In this program we combine the Ballestas Islands, where the meeting of the warm El Niño ocean current with the cold Humboldt current has created the world\'s most fertile seas - rich in marine fauna, with the Nasca Lines, mammoth geometric and zoomorphic designs etched onto the desert floor by pre-Inca cultures.
Itinerary
Below you can find a day-to-day description of the 3-day Nazca Paracas.
Day 1 LIMA - PISCO (Ballestas Islands) - Nazca
We start early by bus towards the city of Pisco (appr. 3 hours). From the seaport we continue our trip by boat, passing by the famous "Candelabro" on our way to the islands, where we will have ample time to observe the fascinating marine fauna of the area.
After lunch at one of the beach restaurants we continue by bus on a scenic road towards the city of Nazca where we arrive in the late afternoon at our hotel.
Day 2 NAZCA (Nazca Lines)
The morning is dedicated to the fascinating and mysterious Nazca Lines (discovered by Maria Reiche). We will explore this enigma by a small aircraft for 1 hour. In the afternoon we visit the cemetery of the Nazca culture at Chauchillas and have free time to visit the house/museum of Maria Reiche. Overnight at the hotel in Nazca. (B)
Day 3 NAZCA - LIMA
After a delicious breakfast we start our return to Lima by bus along the famous Pan-American Highway, getting to the capital mid afternoon for transfer to the hotel. (B)
